UHD-powered TVs boost brown line category



White and brown line products are in evidence in the largest trade show for durable goods in Latin America

São Paulo, April 2017 – Televisions with UHD technology, ultrafine and high performance, are the bet of the representatives of the electronic industry present at the Eletrolar Show 2017, an event that will be held from July 17 thru 20th at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo. The largest durable goods consumer trade show in Latin America will bring the main novelties in white and brown lines, which will be on sale in retail in the second half of this year.

According to data released by the market research firm GfK, the billing of innovative products of all categories of consumer electronics – white and brown, small appliances, computer and mobile phone lines – grows every year. In 2015, these segments accounted for 16% of market revenues. Last year, the number more than doubled, reaching 37%.

Still according to GfK, televisions with the UHD technology and larger screen had a good performance in 2016. These devices, in 2015, represented 8% of the category’s sales and reached 16% in 2016. Input devices, such as 32 “, thin screens, gained importance in 2016, due to the lower purchasing power of the consumer: its market share rose to 29%, compared to 24% in 2015.

Carlos Clur, president of the Grupo Eletrolar, responsible for Eletrolar Show organization, explains that the year 2016 consolidated the TV as the most important product of the brown line. “The show will also bring other novelties in brown line as DVD players, camcorders, sound and cameras,” says the executive.

Other products of great public interest are the home appliances of the white line: refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and dishwashers. Some of them with resources of internet of things (IoT). In 2016, the refrigerator lost to the wash machines, which gained participation. The first, in 2015, accounted for 38% of sales and fell to 36% in 2016, while the washers rose from 28% to 29%, according to GfK.

Eletrolar Show will display around 10 thousand products of 700 brands, which will be seen by 29 thousand executives of retail of large, medium and small sizes, who account for 30 thousand points of sale throughout the national territory. The event also counts on the participation of 800 qualified buyers of large Brazilian networks that do not have headquarters in São Paulo, and 200 from South America, coming from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
